The implementation of new technologies in the wood industry increasingly allows the use of wood products in construction as an alternative to concrete, steel, aluminum, or plastic. In most cases, the energy required for processing and transporting wood is less than the energy stored in the wood through photosynthesis.

Wood

Wood is actually the only carbon-neutral building material. By using more wood products, we leave a much smaller environmental footprint compared to using concrete, steel, aluminum, or synthetic materials.

It has been calculated that increasing the share of wooden buildings in Europe by 10% alone would reduce CO₂ emissions by 25%, aligning with the goals of the Kyoto Protocol.

One of the challenges for wider use of wood products in building exterior and interior structures has been the flammability of wood. The aim of BestNoFire is to create new opportunities for the broader and more sustainable use of wood materials, even in buildings with higher fire safety requirements, while contributing to the reduction of CO₂ emissions.

Modern solution

To achieve this goal, we have invested in a modern pressure treatment system that allows us to impregnate products made from various types of wood and at different treatment levels. The BURNBLOCK fire retardant we use is 100% natural, biodegradable, pH-neutral, non-corrosive, and has been awarded the Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Gold level certification.

BestNoFire offers BURNBLOCK fire retardant impregnation services to partners in the wood and/or construction sectors, as well as to anyone whose plans and activities support environmentally sustainable and resource-efficient practices, creating new opportunities for the broader and more sustainable use of wood materials, even in buildings with higher fire safety requirements.
